PROSPECTS

Tansian University, Umunya - Anambra State., KM 5 ENUGU-ONITSHA EXPRESSWAY UMUNYA, ANAMBRA STATE., Onitsha (2020)

My fear is that we have not been able to separate opinions on national issues from attacks on one's authority leading to unnecessary politicking by many people who want to stand up to their opinions. When this happens, those who could not believe in themselves, based on their own abilities, end up singing the hymns and praises of those in authority to make it to the highest possible level.

It is easier for the sycophants to swallow pride, crash cherished opinions and play the role of the second fiddle people than to believe in themselves to make it to the highest level.Sycophants will be happy to go this way, rather than being honest and straightforward enough to speak at all costs to their minds.

For them, debating a matter against the powers that isn't in their dictionary simply because they don't want to have written 'finis' to their 'career' when they can just quench their ideas and continue to enjoy 'honey and milk' in the corridors of power.

From another perspective, we must take note of the fact that sycophants are so powerful that they can easily reduce an executing government to that of a disgruntled one. They can hypnotize you to such a point that you feel as if you are an alien to the system that you were part of its operation.

Their intentions are simply to corrupt and infest the government system, and thus end up seriously undermining our democracy and our country's growth. That is the bad thing that threatens our democracy.

The question is: do we need such sycophants in this democracy of the 21st century? The obvious answer to that is NO! And the time to stop them from continuing their slaughter of our political process is NOW. Understood in the sense of a meeting point between the not-yet and the now. Or better still, TODAY can be described as yesterday's tomorrow, and tomorrow's yesterday.

Democratic allegiance is, of course, vitally necessary, but it should not be permitted to mutate into blatant throwing of incense and genuflection at the powers that be, which has the potential to destroy the future of our democracy. Avant-garde against the bad and crippling sycophany is our common interest. Let's think about the high degree of undisputed allegiance feuding through our social , political , economic, and cultural nerve endings. Any experienced politician or leader can distinguish between loyalty and sycophancy and we should be brave enough to stem (sycophany) from our polity corridor.

So, the brainstorming session with Dan W. Hill over and promises and arrangements for initial funding in place, I returned to the country and began all the processes, determined to follow each other: from the hunt for a suitable take-off site, the setting up of some structures, to comprehensive and thorough consultations / connections with university professors Then there is the very rigorous process of obtaining the License proper, involving the purchase of form, sequence of payments, paper screening, visits or facilities inspection, combined with the duty of warding off, of oppositions.

Finally, on 17 May 2007, when we obtained the License along with seven other Private Universities, I saw and considered my own License to operate a Private University, as a FIRST CLASS MIRACLE created by our priest, Blessed Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi, to whom I had dedicated the cause, seeking his intercession, from the day I conceived this idea in 2002.

I 'm saying this because many other would-be founders of private universities – mightier, wealthier, more famous, even more connected, and so on – couldn't get it, apart from the eight of us – Tanzian University and 7 others.

All attempts by various groups of devil advocates to forestall and obliterate Tansian University from the list of Private Universities to be accredited were shattered and thwarted. Those personalities who tried to stand in their way to life were fork-lifted and some of them used the road which led to the licensing in German-flooring. That assured us that no one can say 'no' when Jesus says 'yes'.

I can only tell here – in terms of the stressful events that we had to go through, a lot of water went under the bridge. "Acriter pugnatum est" (Caesar Gallic War) The Battle was fiercely fought.

There's no way I can relate all that we've been through, but there were enough fears arising from the opposition's clandestine activities that made me almost throw in the towel and give up the quest, if not for R.L Stevenson 's advice in my fingertips – that, "you keep your fears to yourself and share your bravery with others" that stayed in my consciousness day and night, until we got to know each other. – This feat was accomplished after the thorough, meticulous, consistent and coordinated efforts of a powerful Implementation Committee formed by me and of the Standing Committee on Private Universities (SCOPU) – both committees working closely together.

I would warn you that, due to the sycophantic mentality, the vigor of public discourse has been stifled, muffled and muffled. We do not want a society where different points of view are less true.

We are still coming up with fresh ideas but saddled with old ways to fix problems-sycophantic approach and lip service. People on the leadership bench have become euphemisms for sycophancy, consciously or unconsciously.– This feat was accomplished after the thorough, meticulous, consistent and coordinated efforts of a powerful Implementation Committee formed by me and of the Standing Committee on Private Universities (SCOPU) – both committees working closely together.

Politicians succeed in pandering by continuously giving people the concept of fixing the national crisis, but ending up without making and bringing about concrete and beneficial improvements in government programmes.

CONQUIRE

Sycophants are born into a nation of sheep. The sycophants are more of a threat to our culture because they generate disappointment while the critics point the path to change and understanding in people. Critics not sycophants will guide us to the truth of the country we urgently need, away from the dead ends. I am a member of the school of thinking in whose hem harry Truman said: "I want people around me who teach me the truth, who teach me the truth as they see it. If you have people around you on the pedestal who tell you everything you do is right, you can't work who handle efficiently because it can't be expected in reality.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
